This generalist background has allowed for seamless transitions between different project types and market areas. Throughout his professional career, he has worked on numerous projects of various scope and types, including education, government, corporate office, institutional, recreation, hospitality, medical office, retail, theater, and aviation facilities. He is Parkhill’s Director of Higher Education and leads, or assists as a liaison, on other sector project types within the Amarillo and panhandle region. Greg Billman, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, is a Principal, Senior Project Manager, and Parkhill’s Amarillo Location Leader. I believe we also have a more indirect responsibility-by giving back to our clients, and community – especially those less fortunate, or who struggle to meet the challenges that each day presents.” Mike has led collaborative design charrettes that have influenced innovative master plans and many award-winning designs like Snyder Elementary School in Snyder, Texas, Lubbock-Cooper Laura Bush Middle School in Lubbock, Texas, and Heroes Elementary in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In 2012, he presented The Influence of 21st Century Education Principles on K-12 School Facility Design to his peers at the Texas Society of Architects annual convention in Austin, Texas. Mike was part the Parkhill’s architecture team that was invited by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) to develop its 21st Century Educational Specifications and analyze their impact on school design. His expertise lends an understanding of how diverse learning styles and modalities can affect a school‘s built environment. Mike has led the design of almost 3 million square feet of educational facilities. His experience includes directing complex master plan exercises with K-12 clients while building consensus among facility users and community partners.
